Frequently asked questions
Many people wonder this before reaching out, and it’s a really common question. Therapy might be helpful if you’re feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that aren’t working for you. You might be going through a difficult life change, struggling with relationships, or simply wanting space to understand yourself better.
There isn’t a “right” or “wrong” reason to come to therapy - some clients come with very specific goals, while others come with a general sense that they’d like things to feel different. If you’re unsure, I offer a free initial consultation where we can talk about what’s going on for you and see if working together feels like a good fit.
I offer a compassionate, relational approach that values your autonomy and self-determination. My work is grounded in a pluralistic framework - meaning our sessions are flexible and tailored to you. We’ll draw from different therapeutic approaches to find what best supports your unique needs and goals.
Your initial consultation is a free 15-minute session. It’s a chance for us to connect, talk about what’s brought you to therapy, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit. I’ll ask some questions to get a sense of your current challenges, and you’re welcome to ask me anything too.
Everyone’s journey is different. Some people feel a shift after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term work. We’ll regularly check in on how things are going so we can make sure the therapy continues to meet your needs and supports your goals.
Yes - confidentiality is central to how I work. As a registered member of the BACP, I follow their Ethical Framework, which ensures that your sessions remain private unless there’s a serious safety concern. I’ll explain this clearly when we begin or you can read more their guidelines here - BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions
